Scratch Perverts
DEbassER presents Scratch Perverts DJ Set Plus resident DJs Audio Sculptors and visuals by VJ Gridz (CES)
Friday 6th Nov
The second of our new new DEbassER nights sees us welcome former world champion DJs, SCRATCH PERVERTS, to the Guildhall.
The Scratch Perverts have garnered widespread acclaim. The team won the first DMC Team championships in 1999, claiming it again in the 'Perverted Allies' alias (a fusion of the Perverts and the Allies DJ crews). Additionally Prime Cuts claimed 2 consecutive ITF World Scratching titles, and Plus One won the Vestax battle in 2000, not begetting his returning the DMC World crown to the UK after a hiatus of 10 years. Their technical contributions include the 'feedback' technique and the Euro scratch amongst others.
They have now retired indefinitely from competition and gone on to regular live DJing, touring around the world & holding a residency at Fabric in London. They have also gone on to producing their own music, describing hip hop as being "a celebration of all kinds of music just by its very nature". Their influences have been said to be 'old school' artists such as Kool Herc and Afrika Bambaataa in addition to present day acts such as Dillinja, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Aphex Twin.
The Scratch Perverts are also notable for their adoption of drum and bass and feature it heavily in their DJ sets. They contributed to the track "Get Ill" as part of an album track for D&B producers Ed Rush and Optical.

DEbassER, Hotchip DJ
Gloucester Guildhall has a new monthly dance night, launching Friday 2nd October
Gloucester Guildhall is delighted to announce the launch of a new monthly dance club night, DEbassER. Over the coming months, we'll be bringing some of the top names from the world of dance, drum and bass and electro. And who better to kick it all off, then the frontman of Mercury and Grammy award nominees Hot Chip, Alexis Taylor, who will be playing one of his infamous DJ sets. As well as being one of the most respected dance bands, all the members of Hot Chip regularly DJ all over the world, to great acclaim. This will be a night to remember.

Bloom Festival Cancelled
It's with heavy hearts and great regret that we have to announce Bloom Festival 2009 will not be taking place on 14th - 16th August. However we will be back next summer - the dates and license are already confirmed at Chepstow Racecourse for August 2010.
There have been a number of obstacles that our small team have had to deal with this year - having to move site at very short notice some weeks ago and difficult economic conditions have affected us in a big way, and meant that we have been on the back foot for most of the year. Under the circumstances we feel that the best decision at this juncture is to draw a line under 2009 and concentrate on staging the event we all love so much next summer.
It's been an incredibly difficult decision for us to make, as Bloom is an independently run organisation, built from our very heart and souls. We have worked tirelessly for the best part of nine months on this event which makes it very hard for us to walk away from it. However we have to think of the bigger picture and feel that we are making the right decision.
